My Story

I come into this work out of a core belief in the innate goodness and wisdom within each one of us. I have seen again and again that shame cannot survive in the warmth and light of compassionate connection. I know that transformation and healing can take place at every age and stage in life. And I believe that each time we meet, something that was never before possible becomes possible in the open-hearted presence of each moment.

My work as a therapist is shaped by my own mindfulness and spiritual practices, my interest in neuroscience, and my commitment to my own evolution and growth. I earned my Master’s in Social Work at the University of Maryland in 2000. Shortly after that, I took Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course, and I have been on my path of deepening awareness and integration since then. My work in the area of trauma healing began through working with adolescents, during which time I earned a national certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I later came to understand that traumatic memories are stored in our nervous system, not just our mind, and so I began the Somatic Experiencing training program in 2022 and earned my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certificate in February of 2025. It is a great privilege to do the work that I do and to be a partner in the healing of every person that comes into my office.

Most of my work is in person in Silver Spring, Maryland, though I do also see clients virtually.

Other facts about me: My undergraduate degree is in music, and I play my 100-year-old baby grand piano almost daily. I was born in Maine and I am a New Englander at heart. I love traveling and exploring the beauty of the world in all its forms. And I have three awesome adolescent children and a playful golden retriever!
